Welcome to The Lantern Library Book Club! We’re delighted to have you join our community of fantasy lovers and story-seekers.
Please read our terms and conditions carefully, as they govern your participation in all Book Club activities, events, and offerings.
1. Membership Overview
By joining as a paid member, you receive access to exclusive benefits, including:
- Bimonthly fantasy book selections
- Members-only gatherings
- Special themed content and reading guides
- Early access to retreats, merchandise, and giveaways
- Entry to the members-only Facebook group
Membership is voluntary and participation in all activities is at your own discretion and risk.
2. Fees & Payment
- Membership is billed annually in AUD and is non-refundable, except in the case of billing errors or with special approval.
- Catering is not included.
- If you miss an event, party bags and discussion booklets must be collected in person or posted at your own cost.
- An invoice will be issued upon joining or renewal; access to event information is granted after full payment is received.
- Membership renews annually, and a renewal notice will be sent via email.
- Contact us to update your membership details.
3. One-Off Tickets
- A One-Off Ticket grants access to a single scheduled gathering and includes a themed party bag, a discussion booklet, and the full event experience.
- Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled by The Lantern Library.
- A 10% discount will apply to One Off Ticket Holders who become full members for the remaining chapter sessions.
- One-Off Ticket holders must follow all club community guidelines.
4. Community Guidelines
We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and safe space. By participating, you agree to:
- Engage with kindness, curiosity, and respect.
- Refrain from hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour.
- Label spoilers clearly in discussions.
- Respect others’ privacy and perspectives.
Violation of these guidelines may result in removal from the club or events without refund.
5. Intellectual Property
All original materials (reading guides, graphics, discussion content, etc.) are the intellectual property of The Lantern Library Book Club and must not be shared, copied, or distributed without written permission.
6. Event Participation & Venue Disclaimer
- Participation in events, gatherings, and retreats is voluntary and at your own risk.
- Dates, content, and venues may change.
- Do not record, film, or distribute content from events without prior approval.
- Events may occur at third-party venues. The Lantern Library is not responsible for venue conditions or incidents arising from those locations. Attendees are subject to each venue’s terms and conditions.
7. Health, Safety & Assumption of Risk
By attending any in-person event, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks involved, including illness, injury, or property loss or damage. You are responsible for your own safety and well being and agree to take reasonable precautions in line with health guidelines and venue requirements.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The Lantern Library Book Club, its organizers, team members, volunteers, and partners are not liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, or expense you may incur during or as a result of participation.
- Attendance and participation are at your own risk.
9. Media Consent
Events may be photographed or filmed by The Lantern Library team for promotional purposes, including use on social media, newsletters, printed materials, and our website.
If you prefer not to appear in any media:
- Please notify us in writing in advance or inform a team member upon arrival. We will respect and accommodate your request.
All shared content will be selected with care to represent our community positively and respectfully.
10. Cancellation & Termination
- You may cancel your membership at any time; access remains active until the end of the paid period.
- The Lantern Library reserves the right to terminate a membership at its sole discretion in the event of serious misconduct, with no refund.
11. Changes to Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. You will be notified of significant changes via email or through an announcement in the members’ community
By purchasing a membership or ticket and participating in any event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
